Sportsman's Country Home
A Refined Reimagining of the Everyday Retreat
Originally a standard builder’s shingle-style home, this residence was completely transformed into a tailored modern retreat, one that speaks to the lifestyle of a seasoned outdoorsman with an appreciation for craft, material, and quiet luxury.
Throughout the interior, familiar suburban proportions were stripped back and recast with architectural clarity. Ceilings were lifted and beams exposed to create rhythm and depth. Steel-framed openings and bespoke oak cabinetry replaced generic trim and millwork, giving each room a sense of permanence and purpose.
The palette of stone, oak, plaster, and patinated metal, threads through the entire home, balancing warmth and restraint. Every space was reconsidered: from the fluted oak and Ceppo di Gré kitchen at the heart of the plan, to the sculptural baths rendered in concrete, brass, and soft light. Even circulation zones were elevated with custom lighting, artisanal finishes, and curated artwork, creating moments of pause and discovery.
The result is a home both rugged and refined, equally suited to evenings by the fire as to mornings in the field. A complete reawakening of an ordinary structure into a quietly confident retreat, grounded, enduring, and unmistakably bespoke.
